A Self-Introduction! 自己紹介

Hi. My name is Sean Green and I teach English to junior high first- and second-year students at Nihon Gakuen. Since this is my first time to write something for the school’s web site, please allow me the opportunity to introduce myself.

名前はショーン・グリーンで、日本学園の中学校1、２年生に英語を教えています。初めて学校のウェブサイトに投稿しますので、自己紹介をさせていただきたいと思います。

I am from the United States, from the state of Nebraska. Nebraska is a rural state and the population of my hometown was only 600 people – quite different from Tokyo! My parents were both teachers, but my father loved the outdoors, so we lived in the countryside, and as a boy I spent most of my time hunting, fishing, camping and playing outside. In school, I loved sports and played on the basketball, golf, track and football teams, as well as summer baseball.

私はアメリカのネブラスカ州出身です。ネブラスカは田舎の州で、私の町の人口はたった600人です（東京都とはかなり違いますね。）。両親は二人とも教師でしたが、父はアウトドアが大好きだったので、田舎に住むことになったのです。子供の時には、狩りや釣りやキャンプをし、外で遊んでばかりいました。スポーツが好きだったので、学校ではバスケットボール、ゴルフ、陸上、サッカー、野球をしました。

I graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and worked for a few years as a newspaper reporter. Then I decided to pursue my dream of living and working overseas, so I returned to graduate school and studied teaching English as a Second language. Two years later I got my first job teaching English in Japan!

Nebraska-Lincoln大学ではジャーナリズムの学位をとり卒業し、その後新聞記者として数年働きました。しかし、海外に住んで働くという夢をかなえようと決心したので、大学院に戻り英語を第二言語として教える勉強をしました。その2年後、日本で初めて英語を教える仕事を得ました。

I really enjoy living and teaching in Japan and the people in Japan and the teachers and staff at Nihon Gakuen are very friendly and helpful to me. I always try my best to create a very active, fast-paced lesson in my class and I hope they enjoy the time we spend together and improve their English.

日本に住んで英語を教えることを本当に楽しんでいます。また日本学園の方々はとても良くしてくださっています。アクティブで速いテンポのレッスンを作っていくことにいつもベストを尽くしています。そして、そのクラスを生徒が楽しんで、英語が上達してくれればと願っています。
