Recently, the weather is nice here in Cranbrook. The sunshine is so warm that the snow covering the ground is melting. I feel the spring season approaching closer day by day.
At school, the new semester started in Feburuary and my new classes began.
I am learning about Canadian democracy and human rights in Social Studies class. It is hard to memorize the political terms in English, but It’s interesting for me to compare the Canadian system with the Japanese one.
In PE class, we have started creating our own dance in small groups. We are going to perform a dance in front of our classmates and a video will be made of our dance.
In Communication class, we discuss themes, contents and characters of a book. We read, discussed and then presented our ideas to the class. The book is “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” ,which is the story about a native indian’s life, (also known as First Nations or Indigenous Peoples.).
I get along with the new exchange students who came to the school at the beginning of the new semester.
We also have new students in ESL class. Three Japanese students including myself and two Chinese students study together. The class is very comfortable and fun. Sometimes we laugh so much at our jokes.
The event for international students this month was so amazing. We travelled to Calgary and experienced dog sledding in the Canadian Rockies for the first time. Six husky dogs pulled my sled. The view from sledding was awesome! It was a precious experience. We went to an amusement place called “Laser Tag” at night on the first day. Laser tag is a tag game played with lasers. We enjoyed the game like children. I had a good time with my friends throughout the entire trip!
