先日２年の英語表現の授業でディベートを実施しました。

テーマ：’We should abolish zoos in Japan.’

クラスが４つに分かれ、Affirmative（肯定派）とNegative（否定派）をくじ引きで決め、まず立論としてそれぞれのサイドから２つずつ意見を出しあいます。今学期２回目ということもあり、「立論→反駁→反駁に対する反駁」と進めていくにつれ各チーム白熱していきました。

各グループの主な意見：

・Zoo keepers were reportedly attacked and killed by white tigers, which shocked people around the world.

・Zoo keepers would lose their jobs if zoos in Japan were abolished.

・What if a big earthquake hits a zoo and some fierce animals run away from the zoo?

・Zoos have played an important role in educating children.

・Zoos greatly help protecting endangered species.    　….etc

各自が意見を述べて終りではなく、相手の反論にどう対応するかクリエイティビティが求められます。ディベートを通じて感じた疑問をさらに探究課題としてつなげてくれたらと思います。
