Day three started off well when one lucky student found a four leaf clover, forecasting a good day for all.
We arrived at Dana Hall around 9:30am, greeted by Ms Panahi, a dear and longtime friend of TJK. She prepared special gifts and refreshments for each student. We were also reunited with a Dana Hall exchange student who had been a part of their class for two weeks in June. She took us on a mini tour of the Dana Hall campus. Amongst the facilities, the students were most impressed with the dorm units, the bouldering wall, two swimming pools, and the horse stables.
Ms Panahi introduced the students to activities related to the Global Scholars Certificate Program, and to some topics that would prepare the students for their future Model UN project. Some of these topics were challenging, but the students were able to pass a string to each other and visually emphasize how each global issue they learned about was connected.
Our next destination was Bose, the research and development building. Inside we had a guided tour about the history of the company, and were also introduced to all aspects of inventing. Of note were the research rooms – an echo room and an anechoic (anti-echo) chamber, as well as the physical product design phase. The students were allowed to see some products that aren’t out on the market yet, and they made note of their favorite colors in the hopes of purchasing the items in the future. The tour ended with a raffle, and two lucky students were able to walk away with some Bose products as souvenirs!
