October 17th 2011

Today, we had class after a long time. We had many days of practice for the Sports Day so we couldn’t remember the last material we covered in class.

In Science, we performed an experiment. We mixed sodium bicarbonate and some water… And a reaction occurred! The liquid exploded and many blue bubbles were formed. When we measured the temperature of the liquid, it had decreased! This reaction is called endothermic reaction and it is the opposite of exothermic reaction that we learned before.

Next we had lunch and today’s menu was Udon. It was so delicious.

In English during 7^th period, we made some posters for the Linden Matsuri. We haven’t finished it so we have to work on it tomorrow as well.

今日は、久しぶりの授業でした。体育祭の準備日がたくさんあったので、授業を思い出すのがとっても大変でした。

理科の授業で、炭酸水素ナトリウムと水を混ぜる実験を行いました。そしたら、なんと…

液体が急激に増加して青い泡が発生しました。液体の温度を測ってみると、下がっていました。

この反応は、吸熱反応と呼ばれていて、以前に行った実験とは正反対のものです。

また、ランチはうどんでした。とっても美味しかったです。

7時間目の英語では、リンデン祭のためにポスターを作りました。作り終えることが出来なかったので、明日もポスターを作ります。

Today, we had the rehearsal of Sports Day. We took part in the Obstacle Race, Cheerleading, Enbu dance and the relay. In the obstacle race, we raced twice. The first race was a draw but in the second race, the white team won. I was nervous during the cheerleading dance because many students were looking at us but I had fun.

Some of my friends and I ran in the relay. The blue team won and the total score for the day was 88 for the white team and 62 for the blue team. So the white team won in the end.

今日は体育祭のフルリハーサルがありました！障害物リレーと応援団を実際にしてみて、障害物リレーは1回目は引き分けだったけれど、2回戦は白が勝ちました！（僕は白チーム！）

応援団のダンスをしている間は、全校生徒に見られてちょっと緊張したけど、楽しかったです！

僕と何人かの友達は、選手代表リレーに選ばれていて、このリレーでは青が勝ちました。でも、1日を通して、白が88点、青が62点！だから最終的には白の勝ち！！

October 6th 2011

Today, we first had obstacle race practice with the first graders from the elementary school. They were very cute and the practice was fun.

Next we had the cheerleading and enbu practice in front of an audience for the first time. I was very nervous but we did well.

After that, we practiced the Ouendan dance in the field. I was very tired because we practiced for a very long time.

Finally in the afternoon, we designed the T-shirt for the cheerleading dance. It was supposed to be Science period but the teacher let us off so I was happy. I tried hard to design it but in the end it became dirty-looking. I was not happy.

今日は小学校1年生と一緒に体育祭の障害物レースの練習でした。1年生は小さい！！そしてかわいい！！だから練習はとっても楽しかったです♪

その後は、応援団の練習をしました！応援団はチアと演舞に別れていて、それぞれがんばりましたよ！最後にフィールドで応援団の練習をしました。疲れた～！

ラッキーなことに、理科の授業がチアのT-シャツ作りに変わりました。がんばってT-シャツを作ったけど、なんだか出来上がってみると汚くなっていて・・・ショック！

October 4

Today in Home Economics class, we made a wristband and a fringe accessory for our Sports Day.

It took 2 periods to make them but some students still couldn’t finish so they will need to finish theirs at home.

We only used thread and needle but it was difficult.

We will put them on with a headband during the road dance performance.

So we should make it very durable.

At the elementary school, students’ parents will prepare them but we at the junior high school have to make ours on our own. To be adult is hard…

今日の家庭科の時間で、スポーツデイで使用するリストバンドや紐のアクセサリーを作りました。

２時間かかって作りましたがまだ作り終えていない人もいるので持ち帰ってする人もいると思います。

糸と針だけの作業でしたが、難しかったです。

作ったものは、ロードダンスのときに使用するので、耐久性のあるものを造らなければいけません。

小学生は、家庭で準備してもらえますが、中学生は自分たちで準備します。

大人になるって、厳しい…

今日は8年生が担当です。

October 3^rd

Today, we practiced the choreography for the cheerleading dance. We practiced for two hours at 3^rd and 4^th period. We tried to remember a lot of moves. Some of the choreography was difficult but we tried our best. Now we are almost finished with the entire choreography but we didn’t have time to finish it all. I think we should be able to finish it all tomorrow. I want to see it complete as soon as I can.

Also, at recess time, the cheer team and the Japanese dance （演舞）team danced in front of each other. Both teams were very good. Sports day is exactly one week from today so we must keep working very hard.

【Today’s Lunch】

今 日、私たちはチアリーディングの振り付けを練習しました。私たちは、3時間目と4時間目の2時間を使って練習しました。そして、たくさんの動きをできるだ け覚えるようにがんばりました。振付の数か所はとても難しかったのですが、みんなできる力を振り絞ってがんばりました。そして今、私たちは全振付のうち の、ほとんどを完成させましたが、完全に完成させるまでには時間が足りませんでした。明日中には全員が完成することができると思います。私は、できるだけ 早くチアリーディングのダンスが完成するのを見たいです。

それから、昼休みの時間、チアのチームと演舞のチームは向かい合ってダンスを披露しました。どちらのチームもとてもよくできていました。今日からちょうど1週間後はスポーツデイなので、この一生懸命に頑張る姿勢を今後も続けていかなくてはいけません。

September 29^th

Today was the day of the English test. I got a better score than the last time but I wanted an even higher score.

Lunch today was pork or white fish with mentaiko crusts. I choose the pork but I thought the mentaiko was too spicy.

After lunch, we practiced the cheers for Sports Day. I am in the cheerleading group.

今日は英語のテストでした。前回より良かったけど、もっといい点数を取りたかったです。

ランチは、豚肉か白身魚の明太子でした。豚肉を選びましたが、明太子がとっても辛かったです。

ランチの後で、スポーツデイに行うチアの練習をしました。

In Science, we observed a leaf through a microscope.

For lunch we had Curry today.

In PE class, we practiced our dance for the Sports Day.

I was very tired but I enjoyed today.

今日は理科の時間に顕微鏡で葉っぱを観察しました！！

お昼ご飯はカレーでしたよ♪

体育の授業では、スポーツデーに踊るダンスの練習をしました。

みんなで合わせるのがなかなか大変なんですよ！

とっても大変な1日だったけど、今日も楽しかったな～♪

Today, we had an English exam.

There were many vocabulary words from the TOEIC so it was very difficult.

In Science, we were taught about Photosynthesis.

Mr. S taught us many important ideas.

Today, we went on the terrace for lunch. It was our first time.

Setting up the big umbrellas for the tables was difficult but it was very fun.

今日はEnglishの試験がありました・・・。

TOEICからのボキャブラリーテストなので、難しかった～！

Scienceでは、光合成について学習しました。

理科の先生が、大事な内容をたくさん教えてくれました♪

今日のランチは、テラスで食べました❤

（7年生にとっては初めてです！）

大きなパラソルをセッティングするのが大変だったけど、
